Street reality
Hakata Station Front is not one continuous calm curb. Shinkansen departure banks, hotel coaches, and delivery vans share the same few minutes. The desk cares less about “distance to station” and more about which ten-minute window you try to slot into.
Windows that usually hurt less
- Before the evening Shinkansen rush: returns that finish early leave the pad usable for the next guest.
- After ~21:00 the coach surge often eases; late returns are quieter on the street even when Explorer still shows demand elsewhere.
- If Front is jammed, Station East can be the calmer linked option the same evening—check both pads in Explorer rather than forcing one pin on the map.
Noise we keep on purpose
Perfect “always return by 18:00” advice fails on festival nights and rainy Fridays. The canonical note is the pattern plus the exception—not a polished top-10 list.
